The Canadian Doctors Orchestra’s volunteer staff are situated on traditional, unceded, and treaty territories across B.C. and Alberta. We honour and value the culture, spirituality and governance of the first peoples of so-called Victoria and Calgary, including but not limited to the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) Peoples and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples, as well as the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), the Îyârhe Nakoda of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations, and the Dene of the Tsuut’ina First Nation. Southern Alberta is also home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Calgary Elbow District. We look to Indigenous artists, musicians, and healthcare professionals to decolonize our understandings of medicine and music as healing community practice.
